Ping has an almost unbelievable number of choices of putters for golfers. I counted 176 different varieties of putters that are available in different types of metals, inserts and other technologies. This does not count the 36 additional options that are available on line to specify that allows golfers to mix, for example, front of the Ping Anser putter with the back of a Zing model. So if a golfer has an idea about the type and style of putter you prefer, Ping have probably a solution. The philosophy is to offer putters Ping alignment of the model shown in the various technologies they have adopted. In other words, there is an Anser putter Ping available in one almost all the series that are offered. Each series of putters will use a certain metal or combination of metal, and insert some type of face putter or other technology. The company also has an assembly-line program which directs golfers to the location of qualified installers putter. Ping i Series by
The i Series is a new line of putters that will ship to retailers until November 2007. All the putters in this product line will have to insert a Two pieces, consisting of a urethane insert with a thinner material on top of the urethane. This technology is used to give good feedback to the player, in other words, a soft and good sound. There are a total of 10 models available with the i Series technology, including old standards like the Anser and Zing, as well as a Piper, B60, Craz-E, ½ Craz-E and ½ Moon models.
Karsten Series
These putters, of course, the name of Karsten Solheim, who was the founder of Ping. Again, this is a brand new product line that will begin shipping to retailers until October 2007. The faces of these putters are made of steel and an elastomer insert is added to the face in the contact zone with the ball. Weight was redistributed to the perimeter of the clubhead which increases clubhead moment of inertia (MOI), and this adds forgiveness on off-center hits. These putters also have what is called multi-level alignment aid. The thin and rectangular top edge of the putter contrasts with the intended lines in the back cavity to make alignment easier. There are seven models to be offer including Karsten Series Anser, Anser 2, B60, B67, Zing, Craz-E, and Piper models of putter head.
Redwood Series
This series is the name of Redwood City, California, where Karsten Solheim started working on putters in his garage, and this was the beginning of the company Ping. These are all the putters milled 303 stainless steel. Some players like the feel of a milled putter. Three traditional models are offered in this format, the Anser, Zing, and Piper.
The JAS Craz-E One
This is a new addition to the JAS line of putters. This stick has a form which closely resembles some of the two ball putters on the market today, but do not use balls as alignment aids. It has a rectangular alignment aid on its large back plate. The putter head is made of C805 lightweight aluminum, and 4 heavy tungsten weights were added to the perimeter, which creates a high MOI. In fact, the JAS Craz-E One has the highest MOI of any suit on the Ping lineup, so that is why most forgiving putter in the product offering. The color is deep black and has a modern look. I would say that is quite attractive the future.
