To provide solution to rising gasoline prices General Motors has presented the hybrid versions of the GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado pickups.

The Silverado Hybrid is sold with a price of $ 30,040 includes shipping charges and about $ 3,000 higher than a V-8 powered Silverado with the same size engine and same court. The Silverado hybrid and the highest ranking hybrid Sierra starting in late 2004. Gasoline were also the first GM electric hybrids. Unfortunately, neither truck received much promotion resulting in slow sales.

In Idle mode, trucks could generate enough electricity could be used to power a house. GM officials expect the hybrid Silverado and Sierra would be able to find a market with campers, construction workers and others who need electricity in remote locations.

Unfortunately, the trucks were removed when production of the classic version of the Silverado and Sierra stopped in December. GM officials have decided not to submit a new version of the hybrid trucks using the previous model GMT 800 of the propulsion system on the current platform GMT 900.

However, rather than the production plan of new hybrid versions Sierra and Silverado which are scheduled to be launched in late 2008. He said the trucks will be equipped with a two-mode hybrid system that GM is developing with DaimlerChrysler and BMW.

The two-mode hybrid system provides electric drive and a huge increase in fuel economy of GM said. Early tests showed remarkable results made — a gain of fuel economy of around 25 per cent, according to GM engineers working about the project. Corbett also said there were no plans at the moment to give the new versions with power generation property of the original models. But Like the previous hybrid trucks new Sierra and Silverado, the new buses are perfect for any exterior improvements such as adding thrust bar, for example, to further improve the front of the tablets.
