Chrysler LLC recently announced its program to bring electric cars to market, by displaying photographs of the three models were tested in 2009. Of the three, one is expected to enter production in 2010, beating the Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid on the market.

Founded in 1998, GEM has a mission: to bring innovative electric vehicles on the market. The GEM Peapod sleek and pod-like shape is the intention highlight their capacity friendly environment.
"We have evolved the GEM design language to better reflect its eco-friendly performance and its optimism, positive image, "said Peter Arnell, Chrysler LLC's Chief Innovation Officer who led the design process and engineering process.
"These vehicles using gasoline and emit no pollutants. So if a trip around the neighborhood or drive to school or work, the GEM Peapod is the ideal way to contribute to a planet greener and healthier lifestyle, "Arnell said.
GEM, which was recently renamed GreenEcoMobility, has six models available: two from four six passenger cars and three utility vehicles. With a limited range of 30 miles per charge and a top speed of 25 km / h battery is extended through regenerative braking. At this time, GEM vehicles are street legal in 40 states and each vehicle can be recharged at any time and any place with a standard 110 volts. GEM says a full recharge takes only 6-8 hours to complete.
"During the past decade, GEM has been established as the nation's leading battery power, pure electric vehicle, "said GEM President and COO Rick Kasper.
"We have made that in responding to the needs of our customers safety, utility, versatility and performance in environmentally-friendly vehicles, "Kasper said.
GEM says that by replacing conventional vehicles, vehicles can reduce overall emissions of pollutants, particularly during short trips when conventional vehicles create the most tailpipe emissions. To date, GEM vehicles have been driven a combined 200 million miles and prevented over 150 tons of pollutants from reaching the air, while saving 10 million gallons of gasoline.
Unlike traditional golf carts, cars GEM is equipped with a range of security features. Safety belts three-point anchor, lights, wipers, four-wheel hydraulic brakes rack and pinion steering, automotive safety glass, front-wheel drive, rear lights, front turn signals, rear and brake lights are standard on all GEM vehicles.
No, GEM vehicles are not for road travel and are quite limited in scope, but for people who need access to an inexpensive, local, people GEM engines can do the job and with very little negative impact on the environment.
