Cleveland Classic
In the late '70s, Roger Cleveland, founded a company that became well known for producing exquisite replicas of classic golf clubs during the two decades after the Great Depression and World War II. After its initial success, the company expanded rapidly and soon produces a complete line of Golf clubs and equipment, including, arguably, the best wedge in golf. However, the expansion had its problems, and in 1996, left Cleveland to become chief designer at Golf Club Callaway Golf.
Greg Hopkins was named president in 1997 and the company quickly began a period of extraordinary growth. Hopkins Goal was to develop a full line of products to make golf equipment available high performance for every level of golfer. One of his innovations was the development first metal golf light density, CMM ™ metal. Properties of light density metal club enables designers to easily distribute Cleveland club weight of the head for optimal performance.
In 2005, Cleveland Golf Company was acquired by Quick Silver, Inc. as part of the purchase of the holding company Rossignol its Group company.
Today, Cleveland Golf operates from its headquarters in Huntington Beach, California. In addition to its sponsorship of the Tour, including Byron Nelson Championship, Cleveland Golf is active in the collegiate and junior golf. Sponsoring many tournaments and clinics throughout the United States.
