Flip Seat
We've heard it before, "Wear your seat belt." His usual route line. But traveling with a police officer to scenes of accidents daily, and is likely to change his mind real quick if you do not wear now.
When I started in police work, not wearing a seat belt. At that time, there is no law requiring it. But my opinion changed very quickly after doing the job for a short period of time.
To First, I discovered that some of his very minor accidents resulted in more severe injuries. A typical case would be someone driving down the road (do nothing bad), for example to 35 MPH. A second person stands before them at the last second, and a collision occurs. Due to the low speeds involved, it is not expected no injuries. However, for the person doing anything wrong and not using seat belts, which is simply not true. Most of them are transported to hospital with the face and knee injuries (as the body moves forward, obviously the impact).
Another very common injury that has broken wrists. Usually, will exit the top of the meat on the bone of the wrist as a result of the person to grab the steering wheel during the impact on car crash. The problem is that the momentum is so great that no matter how hard the person clings, your body will still go ahead, which of course causes the injury. If the person was using belt, body, of course, have not progressed.
A typical scene of the violent accident that the police is when the person occurs through the windscreen. This happens a lot, and speeds should only be at 35 MPH or more (in general) for this to happen. These people often do not survive, and if they do, there are serious consequences such as loss of arms, legs, or even become paralyzed.
Here are two traffic accidents which are stories resulting in actual death. The person who had been wearing their seatbelts, that would be alive today. The first consisted of a husband and wife driving down the road minding their own business, doing nothing wrong. When they went through an intersection on a green light, a second vehicle ran the red light and bumped his rear fender / bumper. As a result, the husband (the driver) and vehicle overturned wife. As he turned, the driver (the husband), was expelled by the driver's door. Have lived, but his car fell on him, killing him instantly. The woman walked away, literally, with bruises mild.
Another accident involved a young woman home from work. Not wearing a seatbelt. She was doing the speed limit, but because the roads were wet, ended up losing control on the road and rolled his truck. He was expelled from the passenger window, and they have lived. However, the truck fell over her and she died. What is even more shocking was that the autopsy revealed that his death was the result of asphyxiation. This, of course, was his vehicle, above it. If I had been wearing his seat belt, she has lived.
My view now as an officer? I wear my seatbelt for me not the law. I know my chances of survival are significantly increased if I put it in opposition not wearing it. I know from firsthand knowledge.
