It's a common misconception that everything is within your vehicle is covered by your auto insurance policy in case of theft. The truth is that the team only himself vehicle and attachment is covered by an automobile insurance policy in Ontario, Canada. While auto theft claims are ongoing one case, there some things you should know before loading the vehicle with goods of value and leave the car parked on the street overnight.

For example, if a person is having a TV in the car repairs and stolen television still inside, television is not covered. Also, if you have been visiting relatives during the holidays and have not emptied the trunk full of gifts and their vehicle is stolen while the car is covered under your auto policy, the gifts are not covered under your auto policy.

If a person is on vacation and have the luggage and clothes in the car and the car is stolen, luggage and clothing not covered by automobile insurance.

So how secure the contents in your car? Simply – items such as a television, suitcases, clothes, cell phones, laptops, and CD's are covered by property insurance.

Therefore, if you have property insurance and auto insurance, any claim theft auto not cover the contents inside the vehicle, but your property insurance cover the loss of these elements. However, please note that you must pay the deductible on both policies in order to obtain compensation for their losses.

There is a warning, however. Suppose that the CD is stolen along with falling car under the deductible. You have to decide whether or not it is worth paying the difference. This is true for clothing, cell phones and other items which may not exceed the deductible.

Unfortunately, if a thief wants to steal your car, you can take seconds because today's car thieves are sophisticated and aware of every new piece of car theft prevention on the market today.

According to a source in Canada, here are the most stolen vehicles in 2007:

* 1999 Honda Civic SiR 2-door
* 2000 Honda
2004 Subaru Impreza 4-door. This model also had the highest theft claim costs.
Acura
Dodge
Audi

These sources also claim that "none of the most stolen cars are equipped with electronic immobilizers meeting the National Standard of Canada. According to the Insurance Bureau of Canada, regulations requiring all new cars, trucks, vans and SUVs to come equipped with electronic immobilizers not enter into force on 1 September 2007. The Honda Civic is a good example. The latest model year in which Honda has installed immobilizers meeting the National Standard of Canada appear much lower on the list.

The next time you visit their relatives, or go to the supermarket, check your car and trunk to ensure that no valuables in the trunk or back seat. Prevention is the first line of defense against claims auto theft.
