Human nature really can be both a wonderful man and frustrating.
I met an acquaintance of mine recently, during lunch and before I could open his mouth to complement your choice of place, immediately began regaling me (well, abuse me really) with details of a new company that had just been established.
My friend (call her Christabelle – Hey, I like the name OK?) Had just started business in the country as a distributor of products for hair care and was eager to tell me that their business plan for next year.
Given the numbers we talked it sounded as if it would be Loreal next.
"Where you are storing all things?" I asked, "Have you rented somewhere?"
"No, That's the beauty of it. I will save money by storing in my guest room," he said.
"But what if something goes wrong and everything is stolen or leaks or used as mouth wash or something? "I replied.
"Well, duhhh! Have you heard of insurance content at home? "she replied.
"Sure, but that will not cover and what about claims for negligence? "
It was in this stage for years expressed Christabelle business wisdom with the immortal words, "What?".
As I explained that many contained few insurance policies have exclusions for a home business that is conducted on the premises and that they should take measures to protect his client if he wanted to sue for somehow remiss not to use the product correctly (like eating or anything), I could see its rapidly begins to deflate.
Not wanting to stifle his entrepreneurial instinct, I tried to correct the situation with the reassurance: "Well, do not worry. If something went wrong business structure will be protected to some extent. "
"What do you mean business structure?" He said.
At this time I thought prudent to request a bottle of Chardonnay to absorb it as I tried to explain the benefits of creating a successful business in Australia to take advantage of taxation, protection and business benefits.
I could see that my words were slowly starting to sink, but I had another meeting to attend (and Chardonnay had dried up), so I told her not to worry and that we would discuss its position the next day.
To cut a long story short, Christabelle was finally able to sit with an accountant and insurance agent to look at your business and determine the best way for their actions, to allow Christabelle concentrate on what he does best – Sale!
Is there a moral to this little tale?
Dollars not skimp when it comes to advice! Measures taken to save money in professional fees, primarily as a result usually twice what is given to solve the problem on the road.
For example, if you're thinking selling your business around the track, Do you know if your current business structure allows you to pay any tax on the profit you make on their eventual sale? No? Naughty-naughty!
Trade regulations in Australia are complicated – so you should discuss with the experts!
Do not let a fantastic business idea get pulled by the s-bend just because you wanted to save a few dollars. If you set the business-right at the beginning, you will be launched by life!
